UK dealer website providers, compared honestly.

Nearly every “best dealer website provider” article online is written by one of the providers — including this one. So here are the prices, taken from each company’s own pricing page and dated, along with the parts where we are not the cheapest.

The providers, side by side

Entry price is each provider’s cheapest advertised monthly plan. “At 15 cars” is the plan a 15-car dealer would actually need. Checked 27 August 2026 — providers change prices, so verify before you buy.

Prices exclude VAT where the provider states it. “Own marketplace” means the provider runs its own car-buying site and puts your stock on it as part of the fee — not a feed to a marketplace you pay for separately. Quote-only providers do not publish prices publicly.

Where we’re not the cheapest

Worth saying plainly, because you will find it out anyway.

TraderWay starts at £39 a month and currently offers six months free with full Business access. If the lowest monthly figure is what matters most, that beats us.

Vehiso has a free tier for up to 5 vehicles and £49 a month up to 20. For a very small forecourt watching every pound, that is cheaper than £79.

Car Dealer 5 starts at £44 + VAT, and its higher packages carry a fuller dealer management system than ours.

MotorDesk, Click Dealer and Dragon2000 are stronger if you want to run the whole dealership — finance, sales process, customer records — from one system. We are a dealer website and stock platform with sales invoicing, buy-in receipts and a margin-scheme stock book built in — not a full DMS with finance and workshop modules.

And Local Car Sales is not Auto Trader. It carries 86,800+ cars from 3,224 independent dealers and it is growing, but Auto Trader is far bigger. Treat our marketplace as free extra exposure, not a replacement for a paid portal on day one.

The one thing only we do

It is the reason a dealer would pay us more than £39.

Every other platform on that table sells you plumbing — feeds that push your stock to Auto Trader, CarGurus, Cazoo and the rest. Useful, but a feed is worth nothing until you are already paying that marketplace. Feed a portal you do not subscribe to and precisely nothing happens.

We own a marketplace. Your stock goes onto Local Car Sales automatically as part of the £79 — no commission, no per-car fee, no separate subscription — and CarDealerCMS dealers rank at the top of its results, above dealers paying separately for placement. Buyers click straight through to you.

You also get the feed URL for Cazoo, AutoVillage, CarSite and MotorVillage, and an eBay feed if you use eBay. So you get the plumbing and somewhere for it to go.

Frequently asked

Who writes these comparisons?
Almost every “best UK car dealer website provider” article online is published by one of the providers — including this one, by CarDealerCMS. We think the honest thing is to say so, publish the prices we checked with the date we checked them, and be straight about where we are not the cheapest. Check any figure here against the provider’s own pricing page.
Is CarDealerCMS the cheapest?
On the headline figure, no — TraderWay starts at £39 a month with six months free, and Vehiso has a free tier for up to 5 vehicles and £49 a month for up to 20. Worth knowing though: our £79 includes Local Car Sales membership, which we sell separately at £19 a month, so the website part is effectively £60. Against Car Dealer 5 at £77 plus VAT or MotorDesk at £79 for five cars, that is a different comparison from the one the headline prices suggest.
So why would a dealer pay more?
Because £79 includes a listing on Local Car Sales, our own national marketplace, at no extra cost, no commission and no per-car fee — and CarDealerCMS dealers sit at the top of its results. The other platforms give you feeds, which move your stock to marketplaces you pay for separately. A feed is only worth something once you are already paying a portal.
How big is Local Car Sales, honestly?
It carries 86,800+ cars from 3,224 independent UK dealers, and buyers click straight through to the dealer. It is not Auto Trader and we would not pretend otherwise — Auto Trader is far larger. Treat Local Car Sales as free incremental exposure alongside whatever else you do, not as a replacement for a paid portal on day one.
Can you move my existing cars across?
Usually, yes — details and photos. We can import from ClickDealer, Car Dealer 5, NetDirector, Dragon2000, MotorDesk, AutoWeb, Pinewood, DealerPlus, SMG Digital, Codeweavers, Dealer Manager, 67 Degrees, Spidersnet, vcarsDNA and WordPress sites, plus Dragon2000, Auto-IT and MotorDesk stock feeds. Ring 0800 6444 199 and we will tell you there and then.
Do you manage it for me or do I do it myself?
You run the day to day — adding a car takes a couple of minutes, you type the registration and the details fill themselves in. But you do not do the setting up: we import your existing stock, get the site live and connect your marketplace feeds. If you get stuck you ring a person, not a ticket system.
The bit the price alone hides

Our £79 already includes a £19 product

Local Car Sales membership is sold on its own at £19 a month. It is a real product with its own page, its own subscribers and its own billing — not a bundled extra invented for a comparison table.

CarDealerCMS includes it. So when you line our £79 up against a rival at £77 or £79, you are not comparing like with like: the website part of CarDealerCMS is effectively £60 a month, and the marketplace placement is the other £19.

Facebook placement is priority, not a guarantee — one car per page per day, and the car needs a usable photo. Being higher up the ladder means your stock is picked first, not that every car is posted.

Start small if you want

  • £19 a month gets you listed above unverified dealers, a verified badge, and your cars in the queue for our Facebook pages.
  • No website, no migration, no commitment. If it does nothing for you, cancel.
  • If it does work, the £19 stops being a separate bill the day you move up — it is already inside the £79.

So what does the website actually cost?

  • £79 total, minus the £19 marketplace membership you would otherwise buy separately.
  • £60 a month for the website — your own domain, unlimited cars, DVLA lookup, AI descriptions, SEO, analytics.
  • And you move to the top of the marketplace rather than the middle of it.
